Care Guide
Protecting Your Investment
Natural marble is a living stone that responds to its environment. Proper care preserves its beauty across generations. Follow these guidelines to maintain your Calacatta Gold surface.
◈
Sealing Protocol
01Apply a penetrating impregnator sealer (not topical) using a lint-free cloth, following the manufacturer’s dilution instructions.
02Allow the sealer to penetrate the stone for 15–20 minutes, then remove any excess before it hazes on the surface.
03Repeat sealing every 6–12 months for countertops; annually for lower-use surfaces such as flooring or wall cladding.
04The water drop test: if water beads on the surface, protection is intact. If it absorbs within 4 minutes, it is time to re-seal.
◈
Daily Cleaning
✓Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner or warm water with one drop of dish soap (rinse thoroughly to remove soap residue).
✓Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges, steel wool, or rough scrubbing pads.
✗Never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, bathroom tile cleaners, or multi-surface sprays — these etch the surface permanently.
✗Avoid leaving acidic foods and liquids (citrus, red wine, coffee, tomato, mustard) in contact with the stone surface.
◈
Etch & Stain Repair
01For etches (dull marks from acid contact): polished surfaces can often be restored with a marble polishing compound applied by hand with a buffing pad.
02For oil-based stains: apply a poultice of baking soda mixed with acetone, cover with plastic film and tape the edges, leave for 24 hours.
03For deep etching or widespread damage: contact our fabrication team. Professional honing and re-polishing can restore most surfaces.
04Prevention: always use cutting boards, trivets, and coasters on natural marble. A sealed surface is much easier to maintain.
